At the end of Arrival, Louise realizes she can see her future. She sees her daughter drawing, learning to walk, growing. She sees her daughter's premature death caused by a rare disease.

I can see my future clearly enough. I can see myself hammering at my life, years from now. Still wanting to be paid more, run faster, lift more. No daughter.

Louise chose her future knowing the pain it would bring. I see mine and I see emptiness. I see a man who keeps hammering because he doesn't know how to stop.

I don't want to be that man.

He's got stories to tell and people listen when he speaks but he doesn't have family around for Christmas.
